As a Supply Chain Assistant Manager, you will support and often lead efforts to ensure efficient material flow, supplier performance, cost control, inventory health, and coordination across procurement, logistics, and operations. Specific duties include:
Assist in planning, execution, and improvement of the endtoend supply chain processes: procurement, vendor management, inventory, warehousing, inbound/outbound logistics.
Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering to understand material / tooling / component requirements, lead times, and to ensure ontime availability of inputs.
Manage purchase orders, supplier selection and evaluation, contracts / negotiations, ensuring suppliers meet quality, cost, delivery, and service standards.
Monitor supplier performance: delivery compliance, quality of supplies, responsiveness, cost escalations etc, and drive corrective actions if needed.
Maintain and optimize inventory levels: raw materials, consumables, tools, spare parts etc, balancing between avoiding stockouts vs minimizing carrying costs.
Oversee warehouse and stores operations: receiving, storage, picking, dispatch, inventory accuracy, handling procedures, safety and organization.
Manage logistics (inbound and outbound): ensure timely transportation, cost efficient routing, compliance with shipping/customs/regulation if applicable.
Forecast material demand together with Production / Planning teams. Use historical data, production schedules, lead times to develop accurate forecasts.
Use ERP / MRP / supply chain tools to track orders, inventory, suppliers, and generate reports; ensure data accuracy.
Identify bottlenecks, risks or disruptions in supply chain (supplier risk, lead time variability, logistics delays) and propose mitigation plans.
Drive continuous improvement: cost reduction in procurement and logistics, lead time reduction, process standardization, supplier development.
Coordinate with Finance for payments, cost tracking, budgeting for procurement and inventory.
Ensure compliance with quality, safety, environment, and regulatory requirements in supply chain operations.
Mentor or supervise a small team (buyers, warehouse/stores staff, logistics coordinators etc.), ensuring targets are met and skills developed.
