- Assist in leading, developing and implementing KOC’s Business Development Group mandate and strategy through the process of identification, evaluation, maturation and closure of business opportunities. Develop and pursue business opportunities and foster strategic corporate alliances that will contribute to and enhance KOC’s position in the market. Provide professional, technical, commercial and operational guidance and leadership to the project team. Act as champion for opportunities through the internal and external approval process to meet the process objectives and timeline. Provide judgment in terms of analyzing the opportunities, and supervising/coordinating the internal multi- disciplinary teams and external advisors. Implement and document the tendering and award process for third party advisors.
# Position and Group:
Advisor reporting to the Team Leader - Business Terms & Regulations in Business Development Group.
# Key Functions & Responsibilities:
Identify assets representing investment opportunities aligned to KOC’s overall strategy and business plans and perform initial screening supplemented by economic modeling on opportunities identified by contacting and working closely with KOC concerned departments, government entities, oil and gas consultants, and other service providers.
Collaborate with KOC’s Petroleum Economists to review & analyze the economics of identified assets.
Coordinate assessment activities on the selected asset, (e.g., business model evaluations), ensuring compliance with KOC’s policies
Work with KOC stakeholders to assess the asset’s commercial viability & budget alignment.
Draft & ensure all T&Cs for the tender process are reviewed by relevant KOC stakeholders & endorsed by responsible authorities within KOC.
Participate in meetings with potential partners during all phases of the tender cycle, being the focal point for the C&Cs team.
Participate in peer reviews to proactively assist technical/commercial personnel.
Present recommendations including financing- related recommendations and overall project economics, risks analysis and obtain approvals for the same.
Ensure that the commercials are approved & endorsed by KOC’s C&Cs team, safeguarding the company’s financial interests.
Coordinate with the Planning team to ensure the required budget is secured for asset development.
Monitor the T&Cs implementation during the partnership lifecycle (e.g., establishing a Joint Operating Company).
Ensure the correct implementation of the approved T&Cs, coordinating closely with KOC’s technical & commercial teams to oversee
Compliance during the contract’s execution.
Act as the focal point for all post- tender adjustments in the T&Cs, ensuring that any modifications are legally & commercially viable.
Provide active legal guidance on contract clauses to ensure legal enforceability & minimize risk during the partnership.
Assess the asset’s performance in preparation for contract renewal, advising on legal, technical, & commercial aspects to mitigate risk & identify opportunities.
Recommend to management any other opportunities for improvement observed in both core and non- core processes to help KOC improve its performance.
# Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geosciences, or Administration.
- Minimum 15+ years of technical and commercial experience in Oil & Gas E&P operations.
- Experience in projects which involve assessing the economics of potential assets, conducting regulatory assessments, & drafting T&Cs to support business decisions & partnerships.
# Technical Competences:
Regulatory Compliance: In- depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to process safety and risk management.
Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time and within budget.
Solid understanding of contract law & the legal implications of drafting & negotiating Terms & Conditions (T&Cs) for Oil & Gas contracts.
